and yeah, most of the time, I just wash them up with Murphy's Wood soap, but after five years of living, I'm spending this week sanding down every drawer and cabinet door, because my brilliant husband thought the sealant we put on our cedar fence to protect it from the weather would be good to use in the kitchen. I did not know this until just recently. So with five years of dirt, grime, oil and many food stains, they just look like a grimy germ factory. Hence the sanding. Now, The Colonel is a gifted craftsman and has honed his woodworking skills over the many, many years, but some of his ideas don't go quite right. Like the time he used Latex caulking in the shower and bathtub surround. Or the time he dug out under our house to put another bedroom in. Oh yeah, that went well. Son # 1 slept down there happily for a couple of years, but then Son # 3 moved down there and for some damn reason, we were often "de-flooding" the room. 11:00 p.m. and Jon and I would be there with a hose we used to siphon the water out of his room. Max wasn't living with us at that time, so it always fell to us. Oh my god, the stories I could tell.
In other news, we are still waiting for the doggie "training wheels" to arrive and in the meantime, I'm taking him out and letting him romp through the grass. It is tall enough to kind of "buoy" him up and he can almost get his feet under him and walk. He seems to like it and meeps when he's had enough, so I am thinking of it as physical therapy.
