Time for minor meltdown

Max had a dr.s appointment today so that he could get his prescription heart meds renewed. His doctor canceled on him. Again. He is scheduled for an appointment next Tuesday. His meds run out on Friday. 😑
I finally got brave enough to schedule an appointment for myself to get my meds adjusted. The medical group I go to no longer accepts TriCare. 😑
And Grrr has had his meds cut back and he hasn’t eaten in 2 days, won’t play, all he wants to do is sleep. 😑

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK, UNIVERSE ?!!??

She apparently has bladder stones. We originally took her in because she's been limping a lot lately, but when they did the X-ray they found the stones. We have a $500 care credit, but between the initial visit + x-rays + surgery, it's going to be about $900. We're looking to see if we can get a loan, or maybe a credit card? And then we can make payments.

It always seems like things go REALLY WRONG just as things start to go right.

It really does. I'm never surprised by this shit anymore, because things can never go smoothly for us. I'm also - okay, so my dog is coming up on 12 years old, and I love her more than anything (except other family members, of course). But because she's getting up there and running into problems more frequently, we've started talking about whether we'll get another dog when she goes. On the one hand, I can't imagine life without a dog, and they say it helps with your grief.

On the other hand, we're poor. We can get her seen and we can pay for some things - like my dog's specialty food, fish oil treats, etc. But when big expenses come up (SURGERY), it's always a panic of HOW CAN WE PAY FOR THIS. Should we really get another dog?

I also try not to think about it too much, because just the THOUGHT of Sadie dying makes it difficult for me to breathe.

Sorry for the late reply! I'm getting back into the swing of things after my trip - my email is terribly full.

I take a lot of comfort in you. If you can make it through Rufio's passing - and I know how much he means to you - then I can make it through Sadie's. I've also heard getting another dog makes it easier to recover from a dog's passing. But my dad's not fond of animals in general, so it was kind of a surprise when he fell so hard for Sadie. I'm not sure he'll be willing to get another pet.

The surgery went fine! She has arthritis in her paw and the vet has said she needs to stop jumping to/from beds and couches - both because of the surgery and her paw. But getting her to stop has been impossible. We built these wooden stairs (with carpet stapled to the top) but she refuses to use them. But she doesn't whimper or anything when she jumps. Now we just have to pay off the loans (Care Credit & Scratchpay) to pay for her care.

*HUUUUUGS*
