Enough Excitement Already

thankewverymuch.

Firstly, there was someone working in the shop when Max wasn't home. I get a little twitchy about people out here when I'm alone, but the guy was vaguely familiar and actually had the key code to open the shop door, so a quick text to Max and I'm ok again. Just locked my front door behind me.

Then, after Max came home, when I went out to move the sprinkler, I noticed an elderly man sitting on a bench that we have underneath a tree. Just sitting there chilling, NBD, except we have a lot of neighbors who don't appreciate boundaries. So I approached a little hesitantly and asked, "may I help you?" to which he answered,

"are you an Epperson ?"

"yeee-ah"

"are you Jennifer?"

"Yee-sss"

"Is Max around ? I'm Joe Blah blah blah and I wanted to talk to him."

Well, finally! Ive heard the name before, so I led him back to the house, and Max was delighted to see him

Finally, I was walking Grrr after dinner and heard a ruckus in the garage, when I went to investigate I found a goat, stuck somehow in the corner. We couldn't get him out, even after tempting him with carrots an apples. I hope he finds his way out tonight.

And now for a double gin and some chocolate

Okay, a random goat in the garage is even more rural than us. Though wait until you have to slow down while driving because the neighbor's geese decide to walk down the middle of the road instead of using their wings to fly to the other side of their property. ::sigh::

"Fun" lol.

What have you been reading lately?

I hope you enjoyed the two large McShep stories I linked! I take comfort in the fact there's so much to read on ao3 - at least I'll never run out, lol. You know, I've never read Lord of the Rings. I tried once, but his pages of description on forests did me in. Pride and Prejudice is awesome though :D

I have a TON of new books. I keep buying books, reading one, buying more, reading one out of the new lot, etc. I think at this point I'm like 15 books behind. But like you, I stick with comfort fic when I'm stressed (which is a lot).

For books, I'm slowly making my way through Charlie Adhara's Big Bad Wolf series. It's a M/M werewolf book series, with a sort of realistic take on things. Hence the slow going lol.

For fic, I've been rereading Zen and the Art of Jumper Maintenance, because it's a quiet, sweet fic. I'm also trying to catch up on the fics that were posted while I was on my work trip.

Finally, when I'm at work and want to read a fic that I don't need to focus on a lot, I've been reading Good Omens, which is like The Shiny New Fandom.

My family is doing okay. We had a few scares where we thought dad's disability was taken from him and his health insurance canceled. Mom needs to have an MRI and possible neck surgery though.

Honestly, I do wish the fandom had more fics like Zen and the Art of Jumper Maintenance. It has lots of sweet and funny fics, but most of them are short. Sometimes I get a craving for a long, quiet fic (if you know what I mean by quiet) and it's like...Zen and A Farm in Iowa.

It's definitely stressful. I've gotten a raise at work and that helps, but whenever I want something I have to squirrel away money a little at a time. But I have lots of free reading material via fandom, so I don't want for much!

Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed for me ♥
