Both of my grandmothers lived in woodsy wilderness when I was a kid, so this book captured my imagination with the possibility of living all by myself in a tree. How wonderful! Of course , now I'm an old adult and the effort to get wood, build a fire, and keep it going all day (and night!) is wearing on me, lol.

Fantasy is always better than reality! I think this is partly why I like apocafics, as people in them are often thrown back on relearning survival skills. Much more fun to read than to do!

I was absolutely enchanted with the idea of living by myself inside a tree in a huge forest. These days, my cabin is too much work. Keeping the wood stove going all thru winter is a pain, and I find my self whining every time I have to go "all the way downstairs" lol
